The Gazette New York collects as little reader data as possible. This page explains what is collected, when, and how you can change your mind.

Cookies and consent

No analytics cookies are set when you first arrive. We ask for your consent with a banner at the bottom of the screen. If you decline, no analytics script is loaded and no analytics cookies are created. If you accept, we load Google Analytics 4 using Google Consent Mode v2, which stays fully denied until the moment you accept.

What analytics collects

With your consent, Google Analytics records aggregate usage data such as the pages you visit, approximate location derived from your IP address, referring site, device type and browser. We use it only to understand which reporting readers find useful. We do not sell this data and we do not use it to identify you personally.

Your choice is stored locally

Your accept or decline decision is stored in your browser's local storage on your device, so the banner does not reappear on every page. Nothing about that choice is sent to our servers.

Changing your decision

To change or withdraw consent, clear this site's data in your browser settings (site data or local storage). The consent banner will appear again on your next visit, and any analytics cookies set by Google will be removed with the rest of the site data.

Articles you bookmark are stored only in your browser's local storage. They are never sent to us and are not linked to any account.
